About Us

When Ted Bundy doesn’t kill you and your 13-year-old son survives a fatal cardiac event, it changes you. The Miracle Chase (Sterling, 2010) was the result of our spiritual quest to put meaning around these horrifying events. Marking our twentieth year of becoming Miracle Experts, our second book, The Miracle Collectors (Hachette, 2021) engages the question of miracles in a new way - by becoming more aware, deepening connection with each other, and finding meaning through the stories we have been privileged to hear. Chasing, uncovering, and collecting miracles, a topic where people sometimes fear to tread, continue to inspire us.

JOAN LUISE HILL

Joan’s introduction to miracles evolved as a series of coincidences that ultimately could not be ignored. With a lengthy career in health care adminis-tration advancing innovative medical solutions, her expertise was put to the test to save the life of her son. She has a master’s degree from the University of Connecticut and a bachelor of science degree from Boston College. Having lived in a number of states and with three adult children and family spread across the country, Joan and her husband Gene are avid (and constant) travelers. Joan has been compared to Thing 1 and Thing 2 (of Dr. Seuss fame) for her numerous volunteer activities in healthcare and education and "the places she would go and the people she would see."

KATIE MAHON

Katie became a miracle expert the hard way. At nineteen, she walked away from serial killer Ted Bundy with the help of a stranger who appeared seemingly out of nowhere. She graduated from Santa Clara University, and began collecting various hats to wear long before collecting stories: banker, wife, mom of two daughters, and passionate volunteer for any cause that has to do with women and children. Her writer hat includes supporting writers through Poets & Writers where she serves on the board of directors. Katie is a transplant to New York City from the San Francisco Bay Area where she lives with her husband and has donned her most favorite hat of all, grandmother to four little boys.
